About the Role
WIN Energy REMC is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead the cooperative’s engineering operations and ensure a modern, reliable, and efficient electric distribution system. This position plays a key role in system planning, reliability improvement, and advancing infrastructure strategies that prepare the cooperative for future energy needs.
What You’ll Do
Lead and develop the engineering team, ensuring compliance with cooperative policies and industry standards.
Direct all engineering functions, including system design, construction, and inspection, to maintain a reliable distribution system.
Oversee mapping, system planning, and load management programs using engineering software (e.g., Milsoft).
Analyze outages, voltage issues, and system performance to recommend improvements.
Coordinate with Hoosier Energy and industrial customers to determine power requirements and system upgrades.
Manage contractors, bid processes, and ensure projects meet RUS specifications.
Develop short- and long-range work plans, budgets, and resource forecasts.
Research and implement protective schemes, system coordination, and power quality enhancements.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with NESC, OSHA, and cooperative standards.
Engage with the CEO, Board of Directors, and members to communicate engineering initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in electric distribution utility, preferably in a cooperative setting.
Licenses: Must possess a valid driver’s license. Professional Engineering (PE) license in Indiana is preferable.
Skills: Proficiency in engineering software, electrical system analysis, mapping, and data analytics.
